After a busy year celebrating their 25th anniversary, the Skydiggers have snuck one more release in just under the wire – a quick, five-song EP of the band’s favourite holiday tunes.
Song choices range from traditional numbers to songs by the Pretenders and John Prine. Most of the renditions are plain and don’t stray far from the originals. While nothing stands out as bad, the album comes across as rushed and completely unnecessary.
If you are that hard up for a Christmas album, go with Michael Bublé. That guy is built for shit like that. Nice try, Skydiggers!
On the other hand, some of the profits from this album go to a charity called Unison Benevolent Fund, which helps out down-on-their-luck musicians.
